ncae exams
it was just recently that i learned about the ncae or the national career assessment examination, an exam given to 4th year students. i think this has been brought up last year but taken into effect just now.
we never had such during our time. ncee had long been gone as well when we were in high school. nsat was an exam taken every other year, so our batch hadn’t gotten through that as well.
i see nothing wrong with the intention of this exam for it could help the student decide which is a better career for him/her. yet again, i think it is a bit late to have the exam conducted during fourth year high school. the exam had just been conducted recently . . . and results will have been released on november. by then, many sought-after college universities have already conducted their entrance exams. the results of the ncae, i believe, by then, will no longer have bearing. the student has already submitted his/her application form, she has already placed the course he/she wanted to take up.
if the purpose of the ncae is to help high school students decide which career best suits them, i suggest that this be conducted during third year high school. they must take note that up has an early registration. upcat is during the first weekend of august. most college universities start handing out their application forms during summer. thus, the ncae, to be an effective career-deciding tool, must be conducted before the college admission process begins, right?
i’m glad such exams exist right now. i wished we had the same during our time. ever since i was young, i had always wanted to be a doctor but a big thank you to biology class, i’ve realized how much i hated the sight of blood and internal organs. and so, i had to let go of that ultimate dream . . . i figured i won’t be an effective doctor if i hated blood. from then on, i was lost . . . i no longer know what i wanted next. all my life, i had set my mind to being a doctor only to let go of it at the last minute.
i entered college as a computer science student upon the suggestion of my father. as i had been studying it, i realized i don’t like it. it’s not the kind of job i would want to do for the rest of my life. i then ventured into a business course, wanting to get involved in an advertising firm . . . a kind of job which is always on the go.
and then lately, i realized my passion for writing. and yes, that’s what i’m doing right now . . . yet still, something’s quite missing . . . and now, i think i know what i want . . .
i’m now venturing into my goal. i now know what i want . . . and i’m working on it. i’ve done my first step towards it and i hope everything will fall into place. guys, i maybe quite makulit asking you to help pray for me but, well . . . i still am . . . please, help me pray that i get to fulfill my dream now . . . that god will allow me to get into that first step . . . because i did . . . i’m just waiting for the door to open. sana, i get it this time . . . i’d be the happiest person in the world . . .

Current Affairs | Comment (0)conversing thru songs
great . . . i’m really stalling with regard to my blog entries . . . *sigh*
hmm . . . what do i want to talk about this time?
you know, as a writer, many people are aware that aside from my personal experiences and learning about current events, and even observing the many things happening everywhere, i get inspiration through songs. yes, my readers would be very aware that the stories i write are inspired from songs and of course, personal experience. my thoughts that i post in my blog entries, on the other hand, are influenced by all other things . . . in short, there are also many things to get one inspired to write . . .
anyway, there’s a song i like right now . . . "beautiful girls reply" by jojo. well, aside from its catchy tune . . . i was amused since it is a reply from the male version of the song "beautiful girls".
i get interested with songs that generate replies from the opposite sex. this "beautiful girls" version is just the latest of the many examples of it. how about ne-yo’s "so sick"? it generated a "ladies reply" and a "girl version". one being a positive response while the other, a negative response.
and it’s not just always the girl who would make a reply to the guy. who would forget tlc’s "no scrubs" and the male reply called "no pigeons"? interesting, huh . . .
so, is there a pinoy version? well, there is . . . a different kind though . . . the closest i could think of is randy santiago’s "babaero" and zsa zsa padilla’s "mambobola" which is often used in a number of production numbers already. it even inspired a concert for the two singers back in the 80’s, i think.
now, here’s a unique combination . . . who would forget michael v.’s reply to andrew e.’s "humanap ka ng panget" song? the new rapper back then got popular from his reply which he called "maganda ang piliin mo". oh, ‘di ba?
i admire songwriters . . . the talent of combining words and music to create a good harmony . . . putting their experiences through songs . . . and touching others who listen . . .

many have been wondering the many things that are going on in our world . . . naturally. our country’s been experiencing drought, other asian countries are experiencing floods, some countries suffer from heatwave, and some countries are victims of uncontrollable forest fires.
too many natural phenomenon that are happening at the same time . . . crazy world we’re living in, you might say.
and then we come across a certain term . . . global warming. make a few researches and there you’ll understand global warming to be the root of unpredictable weather changes . . . like what’s been going on now.
how did global warming start? well, many have been explaining that we, humans, have been the ones who’ve created for such condition to worsen. our too much use for fuel, how we mismanage non-organic stuff which cause the excessive amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. and then again . . . our world being overpopulated can be a reason as well.
overpopulation . . . this then leads me to another term . . . equilibrium. we have to remember that the resources that our world can provide is finite. i guess we have reached the point where the world can no longer provide enough for all of us. and when such happens, the earth itself will take action . . . it will be the one to bring the equilibrium back. maybe that’s it . . . these natural phenomenon occuring to lessen the population in this world . . . to bring back the equilibrium.
for the past days, our country has been on the verge of experiencing drought. we have reached the point of turning to god to help us. you know what? i’d love to believe that the philippines has a special place in god’s heart . . . look at us now, we’re experiencing rains for the past 24 hours.
i remember back in high school, we were also on the verge of experiencing drought and we had again turned to god . . . praying for rain. lo and behold, rain poured before we all suffer from the serious drought.
ok . . . the rains we’ve experienced for the past 24 hours is still not enough to compensate for the critical level of our dams . . . the provinces which need rain still haven’t experienced it yet . . . but it’s a start . . . at least rain fell, right?
and having said god loves our country so much, i hope i also have a special place for him . . . myself being a filipino . . . hehe. i am on the verge of fulfilling a long time dream . . . i hope that the time has come . . . i pray that everything will fall into place . . . it’s my prayer right now.
guys . . . pray for it as well? para sa akin na lang . . . for my true happiness and the fulfillment of a longtime dream . . .
